We spoke to Dr Chinwe Ude and Roald Dahl Nurse Rebecca about the brilliant Roald Dahl Charity, founded by the author himself. The charity focuses on supporting children and families who experience rare and complex diseases and conditions.
Roald Dahl Nurses work with children and young people affected by complex, lifelong illnesses that are under-funded and under-resourced including epilepsy, rare diseases, Sickle Cell Anaemia, and neuro-muscular conditions. Roald Dahl Nurses also support children as they transition into adulthood.
How to get support
You’ll need to be referred by your hospital consultant, GP, district nurse or hospital ward sister. Do find out if there are Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses available for the conditions your child has in your area. Roald Dahl Nurses work throughout the country, but if there isn’t a Roald Dahl Nurse in your local area, you can be referred to an alternative specialist service.
