Clare's Zumba, Fitness and Wellbeing

Clare Vanessa Foreman came into the Made in Kent Radio studios to chat about her business, Clare's Zumba, Fitness and Wellbeing.

Clare has been running Zumba classes since 2017, having been a dancer from a very young age.

When COVID happened in 2020, she wanted to keep people exercising and communicating, so she set up 5 classes a week on Zoom.

Clare trained in Zumba Gold, and started a class in Maidstone - and her regular attendance went from 5 people to 25 people as she built over the months.

Clare says, "I realise more and more that classes are easily accessible to people, but those in more vulnerable areas with limited resources do not attend, and they would benefit so much from the sense of wellbeing and belonging that this type of class offers. Thinking about my Zumba Gold Classes in Maidstone, I wondered if I could set up a similar offer in Medway, in one of the poorer areas, and I am now in the process of applying for funding to support my set up in Gillingham, Medway - through MCH and Public Health. I want to offer a Zumba Gold - with a cuppa and a chat - to link some of the more vulnerable older adults in Medway. This is still in progress and I want to get the word out there that it will be starting - hopefully before Christmas. I continue with my regular community classes and Gym classes - and now run 16 classes a week across 10 venues."
